On Pleasure

Pleasure

Keeps us on our toes

It helps us ground

In this world

What a great way

To inhabit this body

To live in pleasure

Enjoying the creation

Touch your skin

Feel the water

When you

Take a shower

Feel the humidity

Entering your nose

Feel how warm it feels

Inside of your bones

How would it be

If we were

To relate

To this body

As an outsider?

As if it is borrowed

As it we need to care for it

As if it is sacred

Something we don’t owe

Perhaps we will stop harming it

We will treat it better

Not overfeed it

Not undernourish it

We will keep it clean

We will keep it happy

To return it

Better than when we had it

Would you give it junk food

Would you give it cigarettes

Or would you give it

The best harvest in the garden?

The pleasure of anticipating

The taste of breakfast

The feeling after

A good sweat

Maybe just a thought

That makes you tremble

Something on the lines of:

How do I relate to life?

It is that simple

How are you planning your day

How are you maximising joy

How are you eating life

Feeling grounded

In yourself?

I’m gonna say no

No to that coffee

When it doesn’t feel right

No to that laziness

That it doesn’t align

Yes to that nap

To help me relax

Yes to that phone call

That tickles my back
